Event Details

This live panel discussion takes Pinpoint – ARMA’s new policy briefing series – ‘off the page’  to open up conversation around the topic featured in Issue 2: a step-change in knowledge exchange. The event will explore the changing relationship (and some of the drivers for change) between university research managers supporting academics in research bids, and their knowledge exchange counterparts seeking to translate research into useful outputs for businesses and organisations. Like Pinpoint itself, the focus will be about how things work ‘on the ground’.

Speakers

Chloe Jeffries is Head of Strategic Funding, Faculty of Humanities, University of Manchester – Chloe will chair this session.

Pilar Pousada Soliño is Deputy Head of Research and Industrial Partnerships at the University of Lincoln. Pilar will summarise the key highlights from Pinpoint issue 2.

Matthew Guest, Policy Manager (Places, Skills and Knowledge Exchange), GuildHE. Matthew will consider the higher education policy drivers for knowledge exchange and include insights on how things work in specialist and smaller universities and colleges.

Yvonne Kinnaird, KE Policy & Outreach Manager, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. Yvonne will consider the progress of KE and the changing practices and future needs, and how this might inform research management in future.

Andrew Wray is Head of Knowledge Exchange, University of Bristol. Andrew will focus on his institution’s changing practices to adapt to virtual ways of working.

Fariba Soetan, Policy Lead, Research and Innovation, The National Centre for Universities and Business (NCUB). Fariba will bring a view from business and organisations, especially in the context of the UK’s 2.4%  of GDP Research and Development target and NCUB recent work on innovation and resilience during Covid.
