The ARMA Member Engagement Committee (MEC) ensures that the needs and expectations of members and potential members are clearly identified and understood. The committee ensures that ARMA is better placed to deliver an appropriate service to members and enhance member experience. In recent years, the committee has refreshed our special interest groups, launched the regional group initiative and set up an Awards Working Group (reinstated ARMA Awards). They have also undertaken research into senior leaders which resulted in the creation of new offerings for those in research leadership and rebranding our free online community as the Research Leaders Forum.
MEC members can each serve a three-year term (with an option to renew for a second term). The committee meets four times per year (once in-person and others via teleconference), approximately one month in advance of each ARMA Board meeting, so that recommendations can be discussed and developed in good time. For more information, please refer to the committee’s Terms of Reference.
While applications are welcome from all, MEC is looking to broaden the range of views within its membership. Therefore, expressions of interest are welcome from those in the following roles and/or locations:
- working for research institutes, independent research organisations, public sector research establishments, Catapult centres, NHS bodies, mission groups, funders and charitable organisations, including Foundations and Trusts
- working in post award roles such as finance, audits, contracts and reporting
- based in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland
The vacancies are open to all career stages as appropriate training, mentoring and support will be provided for all successful applicants.
To express interest in this opportunity, please send an email to Amaka Nwagbara amaka.nwagbara@arma.adwise-staging.com with the subject line ‘MEC vacancies’, a statement (no more than 400 words) summarising why you would like to join the committee and outlining the ideas, skills and experience you believe you can bring to it.
We will then review all the expressions of interest against candidates fit to the role profile and in line with our inclusive recruitment process.
If you would like to ask any questions about this opportunity, the selection process, or to discuss the role in more detail, please contact amaka.nwagbara@arma.adwise-staging.com for a confidential chat. You are not required to be a member at the time of application but should become one prior to taking up the post.
The closing date for expressions of interest is Friday 25 July 2025.
