The muddled middle: Supporting mid-career academics through the RAIL model to keep careers on track

It has long been recognised that the mid-career is a challenging time for academics. However, evidence of the range and scale of these challenges has been somewhat anecdotal up until now.

Dr Amy Bonsall is a creative, performance, gender equity and networking expert. She is founder and Chair of the Women in Academia Support Network (WIASN) - a global network with nearly 15K members globally. All of her work is rooted in advancing equality and social justice. She is an honorary Fellow of the Gender Institute at Royal Holloway University London, she has 3 books under contract with Palgrave, Emerald and Lever.

Dr Kelly Pickard-Smith is an expert in building learning cultures and communities bringing together people and ideas for the purpose of career, organisational development and innovation. Kelly was a co-founder of Women in Academic Support Network, growing the network as the largest global women academics research network and developing the organisations social digital learning platform.
