Can you automate the assessment of impact? Engaging responsibly with new tools

An increasing number of tools are now being advertised, or are in development, that purport to assess societal impacts using AI and/or drawing on data mined from the publication record, social media interactions, grant funding, and so on. These tools can be at odds with some of the principles and best practices adhered to by the responsible research assessment and impact communities. This drop in session jointly run by the Impact SIG & Research Evaluation SIG, will identify these tools, explore the opportunities and challenges they offer, and consider how the ARMA community might respond.
