The Association for Research Managers & Administrators (ARMA) and the Higher Education Strategic Planners Association (HESPA) are delighted to bring you this one day event on how research offices and planning offices can work together to influence strategy and decision making using metrics and data visualisation techniques. Using HE case studies and presentations on the latest in research analysis and data visualisation techniques we will explore how research and planning offices can step up their analysis, reporting and influencing skills and their collaboration, to add real value to executive decision making.
We will explore next generation techniques such as topic modelling and network analysis, and will also explore the ethical and responsible use of research metrics in data visualisation.
By the end of the event participants will:
- Have considered how network analysis and topic modelling can help to address strategic research questions
- Understand the principles of effective data visualisation
- Have learnt design and presentation techniques for data visualisation
- Have considered the responsible and ethical use of research metrics in data visualisation
- Have had the opportunity to consider how the research and planning offices in their institution could work more closely together
- Have a greater understanding of how these techniques can be used to inform strategic decision making in their institutions
We are delighted to announce that the venue and catering for this event have been provided by Digital Science which enables ARMA and HESPA to offer this event at the reduced ticket price of £200 +VAT.
There will also be an opportunity at the end of the day to join Digital Science for drinks and nibbles – don’t miss the opportunity to discuss some of the analysis techniques further, to hear about the latest developments or have a quick demo of Digital Science tools including Altmetric, Dimensions, Symplectic Elements and Anywhere Access from Readcube. (This is an optional free of charge add on to the programme – please indicate when booking if you would like to attend)
