| I started my working career in Pensions and Insurance working for various previous incarnations of Friends Life. During my 15 years with them I became fully qualified with the Advanced Diploma in Insurance (Chartered Insurance Institute) before deciding to pursue a new career within the University of Exeter. I originally applied for an insurance post within the University but was pointed towards Research Accounting, where I began my new career as a Research Accountant. Dealing with all support functions for research grants and contracts I progressed to the Head of Research Accounting after only 3 years. Overseeing the research income element of the Research Excellence Framework in my first year of this role, it was a steep learning curve. I have now been with the University for 8 years, 5 of which have been leading the research support team. Over the years there have been many challenges in my role, due to the ever-changing research environment. I have, and still do enjoy the role and am keen to share some of my knowledge through supporting ARMA’s training timetable. Outside of work I’m married with two wonderful children. |
