We are pleased to announce that Professor Karen Salt will deliver a keynote address at the annual conference, taking place at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) from 17-19 June 2025.
Professor Salt is a renowned expert in collective governance, systems transformation, and sustainable change. She is currently Professor of Culture, Place and Communities at Manchester Metropolitan University, where she works across faculties to harness the power of place-based research and foster equitable partnerships between communities and universities.
With over 30 years of experience in community development, inclusive policy-making and innovative research approaches, Professor Salt has led large research teams, advised on complex interdisciplinary projects and supported institutions in driving meaningful change. Her work champions a more inclusive and engaged research culture, reimagining who can participate in research and contribute to knowledge production.
Previously, she held a senior policymaking and strategic leadership role at UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), focusing on open research, research culture, research integrity, inclusion, and Trusted Research and Innovation. She has also served on advisory boards and peer review colleges for major research councils and funding bodies, including the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).
At ARMA 2025, Professor Salt will bring her expertise to the stage, offering valuable insights on fostering inclusive research cultures, driving institutional transformation and the evolving role of research in society.
